- Led creation of El Paso County’s Economic Development Department as well as nearly all our economic development polices, in addition to the creation of the heritage tourism and binational affairs positions within this department.
- Spearheaded creation of numerous programs to support local, micro and small businesses over a number of years, including support for creatives/artists in our community.
- Created Healthy Food Financing Initiative to support our local grocers and agricultural producers.

EFFECTIVE, STRONG AND FEARLESS LEADERSHIP
I have been so honored to count on your support over the three terms I’ve served as your County Commissioner for Precinct 2 and I’m asking for your trust once again for a fourth term.
While Austin and Washington are tied up in culture wars and gridlock, I’ve been here, working as an unabashed progressive, closest to the people, delivering real results that change lives.
And let me tell you something: progressivism isn’t radical, like most republicans and even many establishment democrats will try to make you think. It’s practical. It’s about making sure families have economic mobility and can create generational wealth. This means access to healthcare and mental healthcare, creating jobs that pay a living wage, putting food on the table, ensuring safe housing, and protecting our environment.
That’s what working families want. That’s what Texans want. And that’s what El Paso deserves. And in your county commissioner for precinct 2’s office, that’s what we have been serving up!
As you can see, we have been quite busy, however, while we’ve worked to expand access and opportunity, our democracy and values are under attack.
Here in Texas, the legislature is pushing redistricting schemes that would slice up communities, weaken the voices of working families, and dilute the power of Latino and Black communities across the state and here in El Paso. That is gerrymandering — and it is an attack on justice.
And it doesn’t stop there. Across the state, women are being stripped of their right to make personal healthcare decisions with one of the most extreme abortion bans in the nation. Here in El Paso, our border community unfortunately continues to be the front line for mass deportations. The federal government has forced a detention facility onto Fort Bliss, where children and families are held in conditions that shame us all.
These issues are connected. They are about power, fairness, and dignity. And let me be clear: El Paso knows better. We know immigrants are our neighbors, our co-workers, our family. We know women can make decisions about their own bodies. We know communities of color deserve fair representation.
And we will fight. During my tenure in office I have walked that walk and as long as continue here, I will stand up for fair maps, reproductive rights, immigrant justice, and civil rights — because the people of El Paso deserve nothing less.
Friends — that’s not just a list. That’s a record. That’s proof. Proof that when progressives lead, families benefit. Proof that county government can deliver real change. Proof that El Paso County, and especially your precinct 2 office is leading the way.
So yes, I’m running for a fourth term. The work isn’t finished. Families still need affordable healthcare. Our kids deserve opportunity. People deserve food security, safe housing, and a clean, just future. Because our democracy, our rights, and our values are worth fighting for every single day.
With your support, we will keep building. We will keep pushing. And we will keep proving that when progressives lead, communities thrive.
